To ensure medical care in Dzilakorpe, we are planning to construct a health center. This facility will not only ensure basic healthcare services but also act as a crucial point of contact for expectant mothers and emergencies.
Alongside the clinic, accommodations for medical personnel will be built to provide sustainable care for the local population.
Dzilakorpe is a remote community located in the southeastern part of an island in Lake Volta, approximately a 22 km boat ride from the nearest town, Kete Krachi. The island is home to a total of eight communities with a population of around 3,300 people. Unfortunately, the region suffers from extreme poverty and a lack of basic infrastructure.
The educational situation is dire, with no sanitation facilities, no healthcare services, no reliable access to drinking water, no road network, and no police station. Additionally, the island’s isolation makes it difficult to reach. The island’s economy relies on subsistence farming and fishing, further limiting its already scarce resources.
This isolated way of life means that urgently needed aid rarely, if ever, reaches the community. Particularly alarming is the high rate of child trafficking in the region. Establishing educational and healthcare facilities is therefore crucial to improving living conditions and enabling sustainable development in the long term.
